Diarmid Weir
Diarmid Weir has recently completed a PhD in monetary economics, assessing both mainstream and heterodox approaches.
He is currently working on a book in which he explains the working of the monetary system, and how it leads to outcomes that benefit only bankers and the wealthy.
Until 1996 he was a general medical practitioner.

My last blog claimed that equilibrium economics is a fig-leaf for the rich and powerful – because it’s a great excuse for preserving the status quo.
Standard textbook economics is a con trick practised on you and me for the benefit of the rich and powerful. Most economists know some of the reasons for this, but are too concerned with their own work and careers to confront the whole truth.
