Mario Draghi: ECB will do "whatever it takes" to save the euro

Written by  Moraymint Thursday, 26 July 2012
Mario Draghi, President of the European Central Bank, has pledged to do "whatever it takes" to protect the eurozone from collapse.
On one level, it's actually quite fun observing politicians, bureaucrats and bankers making ever more desperate pronouncements about how the world will be shaped according to their pronouncements (all economic realities aside, of course) ... whilst knowing all along that the more that they stamp and shout and make pronouncements the more they inch citizen-serfs towards open revolution.

It's great fun.

But not, of course, if you're some poor b'stard citizen somewhere in Europe in a soup kitchen, with your wife and kids in tow wondering in God's name what hit you? The answer my dear fellow citizen is that the triumvirate mafia of Europe's politicians, bureaucrats and bankers hit you ... and they hit you hard ... and they're going to keep hitting you ... because the euro is "irreversible". Just like the man said.

So, all you citizens of Europe and, indeed, those of us here in the UK soon enough ... get used to economic contraction and, ultimately, widespread destitution. This is the grand European project. This is "ever closer union". This is "more Europe". This is the plan unfolding very nicely indeed ... if you're a politician or a bureaucrat or a banker.

As for the rest of us, well we can eat cake.
